Experience the Authentic Flavors of Arabic Cuisine with Awaafi

Our Indian-Arabic fusion dishes tell a story of cultural connection. For decades, Keralites have lived and worked in the GCC countries, bringing back the flavors of the Gulf and blending them with Kerala’s traditional spices. At Awaafi, we honor this bond with dishes like Mandi, which we prepare with customizable spice levels to create a perfect harmony of Arabian and Indian influences.

I recently chose Awaafi for our Christmas dinner since it serves authentic Kerala cuisine. It was a special reunion for me and my friends, as we were meeting after a year, traveling from Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Aberdeen. Awaafi seemed like the perfect midpoint for all of us to gather, and we were excited to try their food because it was Kerala cuisine 😆.The food was absolutely amazing—authentic, flavorful, and generous in portion sizes (we even had to pack some to take home!). The ambiance was warm and welcoming, but the restaurant could definitely benefit from expanding as it’s a popular spot, and more seating would be great to accommodate the demand. We were so impressed that we even convinced a family we knew to join us the same evening 😆!However, there are areas for improvement, particularly with customer service and communication. I had reserved a table for December 21st at 7 PM, but a week prior, I called to change the timing to 6 PM. Despite this, I received multiple calls to confirm the reservation—one on the day before, another while I was traveling to Edinburgh, and yet another on December 27th asking about the same booking. This level of follow-up became a bit excessive and confusing. That said, the fantastic food and overall experience overshadowed these hiccups. I’ll definitely be back for the great Kerala cuisine but I'm damn sure I'm not gonna make a reservation next time to avoid the calls 🤙!These were the dishes we ordered and you should definitely try them. xxStarters:Lamb chopsPazhamporiUzhunu vadaMains:Beef biriyaniKerala ghee rice and beef comboKerala ghee rice prawn roast comboPorottaKerala ghee rice chicken comboManagala choruIdiyapam and beef combo

A Flavor Explosion at Awafi – Chicken Alfahm and mango lassi are a Must-Try!I recently visited Awafi Indian Arabic Cuisine, and it was an incredible experience! We tried a variety of dishes, and everything was full of flavor, but the Chicken Alfahm truly stood out. If you love bold spices and a burst of flavor, this is an absolute must-try! The chicken was perfectly grilled, juicy, and seasoned with a rich blend of spices that made every bite unforgettable. We also had the Mango Lassi, which was the perfect sweet and refreshing drink to balance the heat from the spices. The Alfahm Mandi was a flavorful rice dish with tender chicken, and the Kerala Parotha was flaky and light—great for scooping up the delicious curries. The Paneer Madras and Kerala Chicken Curry were both rich, aromatic, and comforting. We also enjoyed the Veg Fried Rice and Idiyappam, which were delicious sides to accompany everything. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was cozy yet vibrant. If you're into rich, flavorful dishes with a perfect spice kick, Awafi is a must-visit.I'll definitely be back for more!

Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was great! Everything we ordered was tasty. Butter chicken was my favourite. Battered banana and pakora were also very delicious.

Had that appetising experience, tbh for the first time after coming to the UK. Being a malabari, I used to miss that authentic malabari cuisine. We tried alfaham mandi, paal kappa, paal porotta, and kizhi porotta. The mandi was just out of the world, and porottas were nice and crispy. Those who are keen on coconut taste will enjoy paal kappa. The quality and quantity of the food were worth. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. It's definitely a recommendation for all those who miss Kerala foods.
